Facebook Bought Instagram For $1 Billion!

Facebook recently announced that they were going to be spending $1 Billion in cash and stocks on acquiring Instagram, a popular photo sharing app which until recently was iPhone only. It now has 30 million members and is becoming very popular, although some iPhone users are annoyed that they released the app for Android users.

Take This Lollipop

Take This Lollipop is a new site, which shows you scary facts about your life that you could be giving away to strangers everyday on Facebook. I can't say too much without giving it away but I suggest you have a look, and afterwards make sure your privacy settings on Facebook are up to date and your not giving away your information to strangers. With Halloween only a short amount of time away this animated site really fits in with the theme.

Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger has just been released for Blackberry. So now iPhone, Android and Blackberry users can easily message each other on the go.

Facebook Messenger is Facebook's way of joining the instant messaging competition fighting against RIM's 'BlackBerry Messenger' and Apple's new 'iMessage'.

Facebook Timeline Cover

You may have seen some cool Facebook Cover 'hacks' as people have been calling them, and if you know how to use Photoshop it's not very hard to make one. I have never really used Photoshop much but I mean this quite easily.

Linking together my profile picture and the new cover, but I'm not going to use the above cover as it's a bit too.. childish and nooby, I don't think it would impress the girls much if they saw it either.

But some people have managed to create some good 'hacks'.

The above picture is where I got my idea from and is the best I have seen so far, once I think of a better idea and improve my Photoshop skills I hope to make something similar to this.

Facebook Updates

Very soon Facebook will be rolling out new profile's. They call it a 'Timeline' it shows everything you have done since you have been a Facebook user, you can scroll back all the way to when you were born, it lets you fill out what you did before you even had Facebook.

Another new feature of the new Facebook is 'Covers'.

As you can see above, this is my new Facebook profile, I made my Cover in Photoshop and just put some details on it. And on the right you can see the years, if you click them it scrolls down to that year on the timeline.

If you are a Facebook developer you can gain access to this early, like I have. But it should be rolled out very soon anyway.
