YouTube Is Deleting Inactive Accounts

For the most up-to-date info on this, please see 7ewis.com instead. This site is now inactive, and may contain false info.
On Monday the 12th December (12/12/2011) there are rumours that YouTube will be deleting ALL inactive YouTube accounts. By inactive they mean, if you haven't watched any videos, commented on a video, liked/disliked a video or uploaded any videos for 6 months.

I know this won't affect many people, as if you haven't been on your YouTube account for 6 months you probably don't want the account any more, but they are also disabling accounts that aren't linked to a Google Mail account. Many big YouTubers are worried about losing a large number of subscribers too, as many people will have subscribed and then made a new YouTube account later, but as it will be happening to everyone it won't matter too much, if you have an active subscriber base you will be fine.

Lastly, if the rumours are true, YouTube will be releasing all of the usernames too! So if there's that one username you have always wanted and it was made in for example 2007 and not logged in since you can claim that username and make that account yours! This will probably cause a lot of problems though with people trying to unlink Google accounts and transfer over their videos.

Hopefully they will make it easier to change your username, similar to the way Twitter lets you change it. We shall see later today, watch this space.

What are your thoughts on YouTube doing this? Do you think the rumours are true?
